MOONTA MINES MUSEUM: The former Moonta Mines School now a multi award winning reminder of days gone by is open daily (except Christmas Day). Visit the old school room and headmaster’s office and see how the children went to school ‘way back when’.
MOONTA MINES RAILWAY: (leaving from Museum car park). Catch the little diesel powered National Trust Train and travel through the historic mining area (limited days of operation).
BULLSEYES AND MEMORIES: Bring along your pocket money and call in at the Old Sweet Shop, opposite the Moonta Mines Museum. Here you can still purchase sweets that were available a hundred years ago. Have you heard grandpa talk about bullseyes and gob stoppers? A special post-mark can be obtained on a letter or card, by taking it to the Moonta Post Office.
PLAYTIME: Playground equipment to enjoy at Polgreen Park (off Bay Road) and Moonta Bay and Port Hughes foreshores. Skate park next to Moonta Area School, Verran Terrace.
